Names (left to right):
Melanie Lewis (Golden)
Where photo taken:
Heroes' Square in downtown Budapest. Statues depict various personalities significant in Hungarian history, from the founding tribes of Hungary in the 9th century to more modern political figures.
Best meal:
At Vörös Postakocsi és Hungaricum Grill Restaurant, near Kalvin Square. Trying authentic goulash while in Hungary is a must. While this restaurant was a little bit pricey in comparison to other restaurants (around $15-20 for drinks and dinner), the food was well worth it.
Best deal:
Bargaining at the Grand Market Hall. Most sellers speak at least some English and are willing to haggle on prices for everything from pashminas to Russian stacking dolls to Baltic amber.
Best time to go:
I was there at the start of November and it was cold. Highs were barely above freezing and it snowed. On the plus side though, there were not large groups of tourists. I've since been told that spring is the best time to visit Budapest in order to avoid both the winter weather and summer tourists.
Best travel tip:
Don't limit yourself to the city limits as the outskirts provide plenty of opportunities. I was disappointed that I didn't have the time to go and find the business where you can drive an old Soviet tank around an obstacle course.

The mob runs the downtown area. I went to a strip club and bought four drinks they charged me about $400.00US.....be careful!
