Best deal: Treat your hunger to an exploration of the most famous market in Barcelona, La Boqueria. Best time to go: We traveled to Barcelona in October since some of the best Autumn weather is in September and October when average temperatures hover around 64º, with plenty of sunshine. Best travel tip: No rental car needed for exploring Barcelona – instead use your feet around Old Town, and the Metro (subway) covers the territory quite well, so buy a multi-day or multi-trip pass and you’re all set. Best deal: The girls went with my parents, so they have no idea on deals. However, my mom said that it would have to be the Glenlyn Hotel. They rented a roomy and comfy apartment that slept 5 people for 100 pounds per night. Best time to go: It depends on what you're after - anytime is a good time to visit London. Dodged hurricane weather both times, but the temp was great, in the hi 80's. Best travel tip: If you rent a car ask for a right hand drive vehicle. Best time to go: October was terrific. Mild, sunny days and cool nights made our walks around the city more than comfortable. Best travel tip: The 72-hour vaporetto ticket for 32 Euro allowed unlimited rides. Expect some "high water" in low-lying areas of the city during certain times of the day. Most tourists don't carry rubber boots with them, so taking off your shoes and wading through can be a memorable adventure (and it's what the locals do when caught without their boots!).

16 comments pagex2 Sun, 07 Nov 2010 14:14:58 -0700 Swayambhunath, Nepal

by: estesf0lkbus

Description: Names (left to right): Kathy Squire, Rob Squire Where photo taken: Swayambhunath, Nepal Best meal: The best meal we had in all of Nepal was in a Nepali equivalent of a B&B called the Krishna House in Bhaktapur. Tour includes drops at several snorkel locations; it's fun to see other sea-life than what you might experience snorkeling near your hotel. Best time to go: Low season (summer and fall) are less expensive for travel and hotel, but you run the risk of tropical storms and hurricanes. Best travel tip: Book a room with a refrigerator and microwave. If you stay on Seven Mile Beach, there are a few grocery stores within walking or bus ride distance. Stock up on breakfast foods to save a bit on eating out. The summer is full of tourist and really hot. October is the beginning of the off season. It is perfect because you have cooler weather, better deals and less tourists. Best travel tip: Always give exact change because you will get counterfeit dollars and yuans. Even as an American it is hard to spot the counterfeit dollars.

12 comments VanessaChavez Thu, 04 Nov 2010 00:18:36 -0600 IMG_7128

by: Barb Danford

Description: Names (left to right): Chuck and Barb Danford - Marilyn and Jim Crockett Where photo taken: Amalfi Coast between Positano and Salerno, Italy Best meal: Traditional Italian lunch at the Grand Hotel Tritone Best deal: Fruit and spices at roadside stands on the Coast Amalfi highway Best time to go: Early October is very comfortable with temperatures in mid 60’s low 70‘s. It is also the end of the European tourist season so fewer crowds and less traffic. Best travel tip: Pack lightly, especially clothes, and do laundry as required.

12 comments Barb Danford Wed, 03 Nov 2010 19:50:07 -0600 Stonehenge

by: poldervaart

Description: Names (left to right): Jill, Nathan and Chris Poldervaart of Highlands Ranch, CO Where photo taken: Stonehenge, England Best meal: Cornish Bakehouse, there are many locations throughout England. We ate at the location outside of the Victoria Underground station in London. The traditional Cornish pasty is filled with steak, potato, swede and onion and is encased in a short crust pasty ring. They come in 3 sizes, ranging from £2 to £4 which makes for a reasonable lunch on the go in London! Best deal: Covent Garden's market has an outdoor market on the weekends and they have items very unique to the region at reasonable prices. The energy at the market is vibrant! We were able to go during the markets annual 'Punch and Judy' festival and enjoyed a free puppet show as well as numerous street entertainers. Best time to go: We went at the beginning of October and it only drizzled the first 4 days and then not a drop more! Occasionally the sun broke through the clouds which was a brilliant sight! Best travel tip: If you see a lift at an underground station - take it! We saw a lift at the Covent Garden's station and decided that we would take the stairs instead since we were used to that. We descended down the spiral staircase and once we hit the bottom there was a sign indicating we had just taken 193 stairs! Also, we opted to stay in a flat run by the Georgian House Hotel located in Central London (an easy walk to Victoria Station). A full English breakfast was included every morning and there was a washer in the flat which meant we didn't have to bring as many changes of clothes - more room for souvenirs!

87805 comments poldervaart Wed, 03 Nov 2010 09:49:15 -0600 Paris, France

by: McDermott

Description: Names (left to right): Bryan Haugen, Janine Haugen, Libby McDermott, Mike McDermott Where photo taken:J ardin du Luxembourg on the Left Bank in Paris. Best deal: Crepes made fresh in storefronts in St Germain area on the Left Bank, baguette sandwiches made fresh to order in any boulangarie crowded with locals at lunchtime, and delicious scoops of glace Berthillon on Ile St-Louis, connected by bridge to Ile de le Cite.
