Best deal: Arrange for a full day snorkel/dive trip to Lighthouse Reef. Dive/snorkel at the world famous Blue Hole. Half Moon Cay Natural Monument is cared for by the Belize Audubon Society so don�t pass up a walk to the Red Footed Booby Sanctuary and they could certainly use a donation. The Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System including Half Moon Cay is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Best time to go: Any time but it is hot and humid pretty much the entire time � just remember it is hurricane season from August through the end of the year so consider travel insurance! Best travel tip: Bring plenty of sun screen and be prepared for a sun burn if you do not. The Blue Hole is a popular dive location so try to work with a dive/snorkel operator who can get to the site early in morning.

Combine that with snorkeling and kayaking among the mangroves and you have a variety of pursuits. Location is very isolated and there is no town or nightlife other than the hermit crab races and sipping a Belikin while watching a moon rise over the lagoon. Best time to go: Any time but it is hot and humid pretty much the entire time � just remember it is hurricane season from August through the end of the year so consider travel insurance! Best travel tip: Turneffe Island Resort has 110 Volt A.C. power; the same as the U.S. The wall diving is clear with lots of critters but you need to be comfortable with drift dives and some current. The resort is on a small island and the only access is by a long boat ride from Belize City.

Best meal: Breakfast at the Quay House B&B in Clifden, County Galway. The hardy breakfast ranges from the traditional "full Irish" to daily specials such as Smoked Salmon Scramble, fresh oysters and Eggs Benedict all served in a gorgeous glass conservatory overlooking Clifden Harbour. This is our 3rd trip to Ireland and we wouldn't consider a trip complete without a visit to the gorgeous Quay House run by Paddy and Julia Foyle, possibly Ireland's most gracious hosts. Best deal: Burren Hill Walks in Ballylvaughan, County Clare. for $20 Shane Connolly, a local farmer with degrees in archaeology and local history, leads a 3 hour hike through the Burren, a 10 square mile limestone plateau. This most enlightening and informative walk focuses on the flora, geology and historical sites of the area. Best time to go: We had fantastic weather with just a few showers and only one full day of rain during the 3 middle weeks of July. We have also had nice weather in September when it is much less crowded. Best travel tip: If you are going to Inishmore for only the day, take the Island Ferries from Rossaveel. It is a direct 40 minute trip whereas the ferries departing from Doolin in County Clare stop at all 3 islands and the trip takes almost 2 hours. The Rossaveel ferries are much larger and more comfortable as well. Also The Doolin trip gets shut down more often due to inclement weather and rough sea.

We enjoyed a very tender portion of Reindeer steak. It was washed down with the local Vodka and their great tasting beer. Best deal:Leather and fur coats. The climate in the winter is very cold on the Baltic Sea and the locals love to dress warmly. We bargined for 2 coats that here in Denver would be almost be twice the price. Best time to go: We were there on the summer soltace and it never really got dark and the parties never ended. Best travel tip: Take the high speed boats from Helsinki and sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery, play some cards, meet new friends and enjoy a cold Finnish beer.

Best deal: This all-inclusive resort was very reasonable. The dive operation was excellent-a dedicated guide for each 1-2 divers. Incredible variety of sea life. Best time to go: The dry season is May-September. Best travel tip: We traveled Singapore Airlines from the US. It is an excellent airline for the 20 hr. trip-more leg room, wider seats, and an array of free entertainment (recent movies, TV shows, music, video games). If you have a long layover in Singapore, there is a hotel in the airport offering room rentals for several hours at a time, and another hotel for full overnight stays (we took advantage of a 12-hr layover to get a good nights sleep). I would not recommend late summer as it is extremely humid and very hot. Best travel tip:Exchange dollars for yen before you leave. Japan is a cash society. Only large tourist shops take credit cards. If you want to purchase items in small towns have yen.

Interesting wine selection and great waiter who fired up our private sauna each evening. Oh yeah! Best deal: We rented touring bikes through the Helsiki website from a locat bike shop. They arranged lodging for us at this wonderful resort about sixty miles west of Helsinki. Somehow we ended up with a free second night. Best time to go: In June for the Summer Solstice. Best travel tip: If you rent bikes arrange a guide to get you out of Helsinki and through the confusing trails along the waterfront. We kept getting lost and that added time - you would not want it miss this beautiful section of the ride. The biking guide published by the goverment is excellent.

A powerful lesson in the responsibility of all peoples who live in freedom. Best meal: Without a doubt, it was Gaupos Restaurant on Wisconsin Ave. NW. The best Mexican food we have ever tasted. The homemade chips and salsa were fresh and fabulous! Great service and beautiful atmosphere. Priced right, too. Best deal: Riding the Metro everywhere. Clean, efficient, and safe transportation all over the city. Parking is nearly non-existent at most of the tourist sites, so this method was easy. We bought the 7 day fast pass- cost $40.00 for unlimited, time unrestricted riding. Best time to go: We attended a conference July 2-4 first, so we didn't have a choice in timing. It was hot and humid, but we managed fine. It would be lovely to see the cherry blossoms in the spring, but we did see a few lone magnolia blossoms hanging on. Best travel tip:Plan, plan, and plan. Check out the websites of the places you want to visit, so much info for you to use. We spent more time than we expected at some of the places, so allow for plenty of reflection and looking. We wanted to see the giant pandas, but not the whole zoo (after all we have an amazing one here in CO), so we went first thing in the morning when it was cooler. We loved DC By Foot tours- very personable, knowledgeable, and entertaining guides. All 19 Smithsonian museums and all monuments are free, but remember the crowds grow with the day. Monuments are beautiful at night, too. You can easily walk miles each day, so remember good shoes. And drink plenty of water!!

Best meal: We stayed at the Cherry Tree Bed and Breakfast in Kelowna; the breakfasts (like the house and the hosts) were outstanding! Best time to go: We went in early July � the cherries were ripe, the weather was delightful. Best travel tip: It is a l-o-n-g drive to Kelowna, so think about flying to Vancouver � on the other hand, Idaho was a wonderful drive, and we stayed at Glacier National Park on the way back, so lots to see along the way.

Best time to go: In the U.S. summer, when it is the dry season in the central Andes. Best travel tip: Don't pay the price first offered in the markets. Generally the "real" price is 30-50% lower. Even the taxi fares are highly bargainable.

The market is like stepping back in time with fresh vegetables and fruits, meats of all kinds, nuts, fresh flowers as well as an array of dry goods all on display. The silver and textile deals are amazing! You will definitely want to peruse the market for its treasures and to immerse your self in the old world market. Best time to go:The best time to go is in our fall, their spring. Willka T'ika is in full bloom, the gardens are like paradise, very peaceful and renewing. Best travel tip:This time of year can be very warm during the day, cool at night ~ bring layers. Also, there is a lot of walking, so good hiking shoes are a must. You are up in altitude, use sunscreen everyday and bring bug spray. Pack light to be able to fill up your bags with Peruvian treasures.

Best time to go: A couple years ago we went at the beginning of June after a cold spring and the sting rays were just migrating through. there were hundreds in the water! So we think the best time to go is in July. Best travel tip: Get the $50 boogie boards for riding the waves. The less expensive ones break in half the first ride!

Also, the gelato is fantastic; they have luscious flavors, and two big scoops are only 2 Euros. Best deal: Dresden is famous for its handmade crystal glass, which is said to be on par with Venetian crystal. Best time to go: Summers in Dresden are warm and sunny, but not overly hot. We were there in June, and the temperatures were in the low to mid 70's. Best travel tip: Take a guided tour; there's a lot of history and beautiful architecture that you may miss without a tour guide.
